Casual dining in Denver
Denver literally has more restaurants than I can keep track of. For that matter, it seems as if a new restaurant opens and and older one closes every day. Fine cuisine restaurants seem especially vulnerable to this trend. For example, we had one here in the Cherry Creek North area called Mao's Asian Bistro that was hotter than a firecracker when it opened , I think last year, and closed just last month.
So, my list of Denver restaurants is far from comprehensive as it represents just the restaurants that I like that have been around for awhile.

Denver also boasts a veritable dining spots. Again, I make no attempt to list them all – just the ones I recommend.
In the downtown area, I like the Rockbottom Restaurant & Brewery, Buckhorn Exchange, and the Rocky Mountain Diner.
Rockbottom Restaurant and Brewery
The Rockbottom is right on the 16th St. Mall at 1081 16th St. It features dishes such as Brown Ale Chicken, Alder Smoked Salmon, Fish & Chips, Texas Fire Steak and great BBQ Ribs. The other thing it features is really great, fresh beers brewed in its own brewery.
Rocky Mountain Diner
The Rocky Mountain Diner is at 800 18th Street, just two blocks off the 16th St. Mall. It's menu includes such stalwarts as old-fashioned hot turkey sandwich, brown sugar glazed salmon, Rocky Mountain Rainbow Trout, fried Catfish, pan-friend chicken and chicken-fried steak. Entrees range in price from $9 to $19.
Buckhorn Exchange
The Buckhorn Exchange is the proud owner of Denver Liquor License #1 as it opened its doors in 1893.
The Buckhorn about 15 minutes from downtown Denver at 1000 Osage Street and can be easily reached via RTD Light Rail. In fact, it has its own stop. The Buckhorn serves a unique menu of wild game and steak , including, buffalo, elk, rattlesnake, friend alligator tail, and Rocky Mountain Oysters (if you don't know what these are, don't order them). It is also a kind of museum in that it's just about full to the rafters of stuffed animals - deer, moose, giant buffalo, mountain sheep and all manner of indigenous fowl. There i s also a fabulous gun collection that includes Colt .45s, Winchesters, flintlocks, smooth bores, Derringers, repeating rifles and even a rare palm pistol.
