Colorado Mammoth - Denver's National Lacrosse League team

giochiplayonline.it A relatively new sport that has found a big place in Denver sports is indoor Lacrosse.

Denver's entry in this league, the Colorado Mammoth, play indoors at the Pepsi Center, just as does the Colorado Crush. The Mammoth's season begins play in December and goes through April 15. Tickets can be purchased for as little as $10 and there are Youth Nights and Family Nights that bring ticket prices down even further.

Indoor Lacrosse as played in the NLL (National Lacrosse League) combines the physical play of hockey with the high scoring, fast pace and play-making style of basketball. Indoor lacrosse is played inside the confines of an ice hockey rink, with glass and rink boards intact. The playing surface consists of a green dieter turf carpet that is laid down over the hockey ice. The two teams combine to score a total of 25 goals in the average NLL game. Goals are scored when a hard rubber ball is thrown into the goal using special Lacrosse sticks..

Each team has five runners (forwards and defensemen) and a goaltender on the floor during the game. The game consists of four quarters, each fifteen minutes in length. A game that is tied at the end of regulation is decided in a sudden-death overtime. There are no tie games in professional indoor lacrosse.

Indoor Lacrosse is a very fast-paced game with many of the aspects of hockey. There is body checking and penalties and the goalie wears heavy pads, much as does a hockey goalie.
