Denver shopping is, pardon the expression, hopping with four new shopping centers scheduled to open this month. Probably the most eagerly-awaited of these is called Twenty-Ninth Street. It replaces the old Crossroads Mall in Boulder and is an "open air" mall and will be anchored by a Wild Oats Market, Muttropolis, Macy's, Century Theaters, and Home Depot. Other shopping areas scheduled to open in October are The Orchard, Phase I, at I-25 and West 144th Ave.; Northfield Stapleton at I-70 and I-270 at Quebec St.; and Main Street at Southlands, E-470 and Smokey Hill Road. The Orchard, Phase I will feature stores by J.C. Penney, Macy's (next year) and Super Target, as well as a 12-screen movie theater set to open next year. Anchor tenants at Northfield Stapleton include Bass Pro Shop, Macy's and a Super Target. Main Street at Southlands is actually into Phase 3 of its build-out with new stores from the Gap, J.C. Penney, Banana Republic, and others. So if shopping is your thing, you've got a lot to look forward to here in the Denver Metro area.
If you're a skier or snowboarder, here's good news: Many of our mountains had up to a foot of snow last week with Arapahoe Basic reporting 15" to 18". In fact, one of our local TV stations had footage last week of some intrepid snowboarders already zooming down ungroomed slopes. While neither of our two most popular Front Range ski areas, Arapahoe Basin and Loveland, have yet to announce official opening days, we expect to see announcements very soon. Stay tuned and we'll keep you up to date. In the meantime, you can start waxing up those skis and 'boards 'cause the ski season is just about here
